A slice of the Loire in rural Buckinghamshire, this stunning and eccentric house was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the nineteenth century, and is just a few minute’s drive from the Hundred. There’s lots to explore in both the House and the Gardens, and a number of events run throughout the year.
Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, a World Heritage Site, and one of Britain’s greatest palaces, Blenheim Palace is just 40 minutes away. And for horse-lovers, it also plays host to the Blenheim International Horse Trials every year.
From the Ashmolean Museum, to the Gleaming Spires of the Colleges, and the Covered Market, Oxford has plenty to keep your day out very busy.
